SPATIAL RELATIONS

These images are explorations of different ideas concerning social relations. These are understood through a variety of spatial formations so that ‘Starcastle’, a defensive structure, is based on seventeenth century maps of such castles while the three ‘Factory’ works  are based on nineteenth century engineering  drawings for the maintenance of textile machinery in Manchester factories, evocative of early ‘modern’ workspace. By contrast the other images of webs, knots and entanglement, some in city contexts, are inspired by thinking which is current today in contemporary geography and architecture.
